团队介绍|About

Emotion, as one of the innate characteristics of our human emotion, can help us better understand ourselves. Nowadays, millions of user generated data have been uploaded to social media webists like Flickr, Twitter, Facebook etc., and can provide different perspectives of the emotion. By implementing state-of-the-art computer technologies, like facial recognition with computer vision, and semantic understanding with natural language processing, it is possible to extract emotions from these data and positioning them with geotags. Our team aims at exploring the spatio-temporal distribution of human emotion expressed in social media at different places. And we try to combine the attributes of places and the human emotion, and to examine the environmental factors that might influence the expressions of the human emotion. We hope to propose a place emotion evaluation framework to help decision making in urban planning and social sciences. So far, we have published 3 papers, attended several conferences and made oral presentations, and earned one national funding support.

Research Paper

A Ranking of Worldwide Tourist Attractions Based on the Cognitive Recognition of Emotional Facial Expressions

2016 Chinese Geography Information Science Theories and Methods Annual Conference (中国地理信息科学理论与方法年会). Shenzhen, China. September 23-25, 2016

We collected tourist photos at different tourist sites from Flickr to extract and calculate the human emotion conditions. Based on the results, a ranking list of tourist sites is created according to the human emotion. We also explored the environmental factors that influence human emotions.

Research Paper

Mapping the Sensitivity of the Public Emotion to the Movement of Stock Market Value: A Case Study of Manhattan

3rd International Conference on Spatial Data Mining and Geographical Knowledge Services (ICSDM). Wuhan, China. September 21-22, 2017

We collected photos at Manhattan, New York and calculated the human emotion conditions in these photos. We compared the fluctuation of the human emotion and stock market values, and created a sensitivity map between the two attributes. Results show that human emotions are related to the stock market change and those regions with more financial companies are more sensitive to the stock change.

Research Paper

Who are happier? Spatio-temporal Analysis of Worldwide Emotion Based on Geo-Crowdsourcing Human Faces

2018 Ubiquitous Positioning, Indoor Navigation and Location-Based Services (UPINLBS). Wuhan, China. March 22-23

We utilized YFCC100 dataset to extract and calculate human emotion from facial expressions. We created a worldwide map to show the human emotion around the world and to explore the spatial-temporal distribution of human emotions. We take several demographic attributes including ethnicity, age and gender into consideration.

Big Data based Multi-Scale Human Emotion Spatio-temporal Distribution

National Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Project 2018

In this project, we aim at proposing a framework which utilize multi-source data, including street view images, texts and photos, and deep learning technologies to explore the human emotions. We will explore the human emotions from different scales including communities, citis and countries. We hope to know what and how environmental factors can influence human emotions.
